A great first experience of hostelling, lovely to be so close to the bush and have such beautiful views all around.
Bust made us feel very at home along with Jen’s delicious and generous home cooking. Michel has given us loads of really helpful information about the area and great places to visit.
My first time to stroke a pig and see 6 glowworms!
A very eventful stay indeed!
Thanks guys!

Thanks very much for the pleasant and peaceful stay in such a beautiful area.
I enjoyed the time here very much and have never slept in a forest before.
Won’t be my last time

We enjoyed this calm stay, the glowworms and the magnificent Kauri trees!
Thanks a lot for your hospitality!

What a great place!!! In the sticks but very close to the Kauri Forests … felt totally at home here after a warm welcome from Buster.
Will stop by again if I’m in the area!

Talking about being in the wild: it’s really cool out here. Totally different from the big (or even small) cities in Germany.
We really liked it over here.

Kiwis are still alive and kicking! – saw 3 od them in Trounson Kauri Park. And some possums as well – great time that night in the forest.

What a wonderful place – we were greeted by Buster and loved the peaceful setting.
Took an after dark walk and spotted many glowworms!
Managed to hear a Kiwi but didn’t see any this time.
Thanks for a delicious dinner.

Yes, just magical!
The kauri forest in the night felt enchanted: all those spirits of hundreds of years peeked at us from the heights of the kauri trees, the glowworm arrays echoed by the stars which peeked through the forest canopy like glowworm displays in the sky! To hear the Kiwis calling, then to see not just one, but a second full grown one too – awesome. The morepork called farewells; my only worry was the close encounter with a possum on the track, after we had just been watching the young Kiwi foraging – I do hope he was big enough to hide alright!
Anyway, wonderful experience in the charming backpackers!
Thanks!
